Tierra Sur aparece en mi colección de casetes en 1989 aprox., los seguiría por diferentes conciertos, entre ellos el Primer y Segundo Festival de Reggae en Lima, junto a Yellowman, Ziggy Marley, Eek a mouse… y es que con Tierra Sur, nace el reggae peruano.
Las influencias de Pochi Marambio (fundador, voz y guitarra) son muy variadas, en lo musical como en lo lirico. Del Jazz a los ritmos negros del Perú, de la crítica social a la espiritualidad, de conquistadores y pirañitas a santos y ave marías. La mezcla lograda llega a ser muy interesante y acá comparto algo de su música.
Tierra Sur gets to my cassette collection around 1989, I followed them on many concerts, among them the First and Second Reggae Festivals in Lima, playing with Yellowman, Ziggy Marley, Eek a mouse… With Tierra Sur the Peruvian reggae is born.
Pochi Marambio’s (founder, guitar and lead vocals) influences are broad, musically and lyrically. From Jazz to the black rhythms of Peru, from the social protest to spirituality, from conquerors and small thieves to saints and holly Maries. The fusion achieved is very interesting, so here I share some of their music.
