Immortal Technique es un artista Hip Hop y activista que trabaja de manera independiente en los Estados Unidos. Technique es de los pocos músicos que intentan poner un contenidorealmente social, con sus letras provocadoras, en el oído de las mayorías.
Es posible sentir las experiencias de un artista por su obra, pero Technique no queda alli, gran parte de su rapeo contiene sus conocimientos de lo espiritual e historia, intentando exponer una base clasista que intenta explicar el verdadero origen de las injusticias y la opresión mundial. Debemos recordar que el Hip Hop, como movimiento artístico que incluye música, baile, graffiti y otras aptitudes, se origina en los 70s en NY como una respuesta al descontento después del movimiento por los derechos civiles en EEUU. Esta actitud ha sido perdida en la gran mayoría y junto a Dead Prez, Technique es de los pocos que aun enfocan su energía hacia esa realidad.
Nacido en Lima, Perú, Immortal Technique fue llevado por su familia a Nueva York de muy pequeño, su familia escapaba la crisis y la violencia que azotaban su país natal en los 80s. Criado en el Bronx, vio interrumpida su educación universitaria cuando, acusado de robos violentos, fue encerrado en la cárcel. Su tiempo en prisión fue aprovechado entre otras cosas para leer sobre religión, historia y algo de marxismo. Liberado en 1999 y ya con algunos escritos, comienza a participar en la escena neoyorquina y para el 2001 graba su primer disco: “Revolutionary Vol.1”. El 2003, todavía en forma totalmente independiente, sale a la luz “Revolutionary Vol.2”. Este año, 2008, Immortal Technique saca su tercer trabajo, “Thirld World” y actualmente esta en gira por Europa.
Immortal Technique is an activist and Hip Hop artist that works independently in the US. Technique is one of the few musicians who intend to put some real social content, with confrontational lyrics, on his listeners’ ears.
It is possible to feel an artist’s experiences by his work, but Technique doesn’t stop there, much of his rapping includes his knowledge of spiritualism and history and tries to push a class driven base which tries to explain the real foundations of injustice and world oppression. We must remember that the Hip Hop, as a movement that includes music, dancing, graffiti and other skills, originates in the 70s in NY as a response to the still unrest after the civil rights movement in the U.S.. This attitude has been lost in the majority of Hip Hop artist and together with Dead Prez, Technique is one of the few who still focus their energy toward that reality.
Born in Lima, Peru, Immortal Technique was taken by his family to New York at a very early age, his family was running away from the crisis and violence that were hitting his native country in the 80s. Raised in the Bronx, he will have his education interrupted when while attending university he is sent to prison accused of violent robberies. He would take advantage of his time in jail by reading about religion, history and some Marxism. Out of the hole by 1999, and with some writings on his hands, he will start his involvement on the NY scene and by 2001 he would record his first album: “Revolutionary Vol.1”. In 2003, still totally independent, “Revolutionary Vol.2” will see the light. This year, 2008, Immortal Technique finishes his third masterpiece: “Thirld World” and is currently in a tour in Europe.
